Brand in Lübbenauer Pflegeheim: Zwei Verletzte
Lübbenau, Brandenburg - A fire broke out in a nursing home in Lübbenau on Wednesday, injuring two people. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 10:00 AM, responding to reports of smoke billowing from the building.
Two Injured, One Seriously
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames engulfing a room on the first floor of the nursing home. Two residents were injured in the blaze, one sustaining serious injuries while the other suffered minor burns.
"We immediately began evacuation procedures and fought the fire," said a spokesperson for the Lübbenau fire department. "The blaze was quickly contained, preventing further damage to the building."
Both injured residents were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Extensive Damage, Investigation Ongoing
The fire caused significant damage to the room where it originated, resulting in temporary closure of that section of the nursing home. The remaining residents were safely evacuated and are being accommodated in temporary housing until the affected area is deemed safe.
"The safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority," said a spokesperson for the nursing home. "We are grateful for the quick response of the emergency services and are working to ensure all residents receive the best possible care during this challenging time."
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. The investigation is expected to take several days.
